Quarantine 2

Posted by Jimmy Blue Eyes on December 26, 2011 at 1:30 AM

Greetings my shambling shuffling friends.

I was recently able to liberate a copy of Quarantine 2, and although I am sorry that some cops had to spend Christmas Eve drawing chaulk outlines on the floor of the local video store, I am glad to have finally watched it.

First off, I must admit that I am a fan of the first, and no, I have not seen the spanish counterpart of Quarantined named 'REC'.

Quarantine 2, directed and screenplay by John G. Pogue, was a great new chapter in the American version of the series. Taking place at the same time as the events in the first film, during the quarantine of the apartment building, part two involves the virus being taken onto a plane by infected lab rats that were stored in an animal crate.

This movie gets right to the point, and the action is fast, with well timed scares. I definatley jumped a couple times, and the movie was so well put together, that I am shocked it did not have a theatrical release.

Something else I really enjoyed about Quarantine 2, is how being trapped by quarantine measures in the terminal added a kind of claustrophobia to the movie, this worked really well for the first Night of the Living Dead, and few movies can actually pull that off in a manner as to affect the viewer properly.

Time for the G.R.E.A.T. score!

G-ore: Really nice, some of the sfx was top notch, and the infected makeup was handled well. 9

R-ealism: John G. Pogue encorporated post 9-11 security lockdown procedures, as well as an overblown govermental cdc response that caused more harm than good and created more unneeded victims of the virus. This is a perfect example of big goverment failure on a day to day basis, and reminds me of the TSA who have over blown security responses, threatening our liberties, and treating our grandparents like muslim suicide bombers by banning their dangerous cupcakes from traveling on airplanes. 9.5

E-ntertainment: I could not look away, the action and pace were so steady that I was afraid I would miss something. 8.5

A-cting: Not a single complaint, the actors were believable. 8.5

T-hrills: John G. Pogue's screenplay was able to throw in the scares when you least expected, adding to my enjoyment. 8.0

The total G.R.E.A.T. score is: 8.7 out of 10.

I highly recommend buying this from Amazon.com or renting it from your local store or online service.

So, will the goverment destroy the virus with their overblown response, or will it find a way out of the terminal?

You will have to watch Quarantine 2 to find out.

Thanks for reading, and until my next post, I will be shuffling along with the lost.
