Greetings my shambling shuffling friends.
This morning I had the chance to review Melvin, the award winning 2009 zombie film, distributed by Chemical Burn Entertainment.
At first I was a bit hesitant, because I have seen some really bad low budget films in the past (zombie clowns comes to mind), but Melvin is a different breed altogether. This movie is campy in a GOOD low budget kinda way. Yes I said campy, low budget, and good in the same sentence.
There are some great gorey FX scenes, like a cemetary decapitation, and the actors are pretty good, along with a GREAT full frontal nudity scene. (giggity giggity goo!) I will admit I did get a little confused at first while watching the first half of the movie, I thought the same guys were harassing a geeky high schooler and a geeky college guy, but I figured out the high school kid's harrasment was a series of flahsbacks.(I can be slow sometimes.)
Melvin is the story about a dead geek, infecting a live geek, to get even with their high school and college tormentors.
Will the bullies get what they deserve?
Will the zombies get their.... ah hem....just dessert?
How many times will you rewind the full frontal nudity scene, just like I did?
You will have to watch Melvin to find out.
Melvin brought a smile to my face more than once, and will hold a spot in my zombie movie collection, now nearing the 75 mark. I cant wait to see what Henry Weintraub can do with a bigger budget, because Melvin was worth the time it took to watch it.
Thanks for reading, and until my next post, I will be shuffling along with the lost.
