Brain Dead (2007)

Posted by Jimmy Blue Eyes on April 24, 2011 at 4:17 PM

Greetings my shambling shuffling friends.

I just finished watching one helluva cool zombie movie.

BRAIN DEAD (2007)

A KEVIN TENNEY film, starring JOSHUA BENTON, SARAH GRANT BRENDECKE, DAVID CRANE, ANDY FORREST and ALEXANDRA GOODMAN.

Brought to us by Vicious Circle Films, and Breaking Glass Pictures.

An asteroid flies through space carrying a goo that looks like the blob, and after entering earths atmosphere, strikes a fisherman in the head, where the goo then takes over, turning the man into an alien amoeba parasite infected zombie.

Shortly there after two escaped convicts, two lost hiker babes, and a bumbling horny preacher and his hot church helper all cross paths at a cabin in the woods trying to seek shelter from their various predicaments, only to realize that they all have to unite to fight the zombie menace that surrounds them in the woods.

This movie was full of some of the best SFX and gore scenes since Peter Jackson's Dead Alive and the more recent foriegn zombedy Dead Snow, and these zombies we also strictly brain eaters which I have not seen since The Return of the Living Dead movie franchise

The first quarter of BRAIN DEAD was also full of hot naked babes, only Zombie Strippers with Jenna Jameson had more naked bodies.

Being a cultish zombedy, I also found myself able to jump from fright twice which really impressed me.

So let us see what the G.R.E.A.T. zombie score for BRAIN DEAD will be.

G-ore: Lots of it done really well, if the zombie makeup had been better I might have given this movie a 9.5, but I must yield to a lower 8.5

R-ealism: Any zombie movie that shows the origin of the zombie plague can tend to suffer from reducing the realism, although Resident Evil, 28 days later, and Return of the Living Dead did not suffer this draw back. The origins were important for BRAIN DEAD's storyline, but is not meant to be taken seriously. 5.95

E-ntertainment: BRAIN DEAD was packed full of entertainment, from the naked women, the dialog, some of the gross out gags, and the gore. I actually saw some sfx I have never seen in a zombie movie before. 8.75

A-cting: Some of the acting was pretty good, some was over acted like they were trying too hard to project their stereotype for the camera. 6.0

T-hrills: Yes there were thrills, I did jump twice, some of the gore excited me, lots of naked HOT babes which was exciting, BRAIN DEAD kept me watching. 6.5

The combined G.R.E.A.T. zombie score comes to an average of 7.14!

Before I wrap this review, I have a question for you.

How did the trojan amoeba slime slug sneak into the cabin with Amy, and had she lived would it have scarred her for life?

You will have to watch BRAIN DEAD to answer that question.

Thanks for reading, and until my next post, I will be shuffling along with the lost.
