In a recent interview with Robert Krikman, creator of TWD, he told us that he could very easily kill off Rick and might do so eventually. Saying that it'd be easy to kill Rick and continue the story without him, but I'd actually have to disagree with Kirkman on that statement. As a fan of TWD, the thing that has me most interested in the comic is actually Rick's story, his journey and everything that has happened to him. Kirkman's basically killed off any character that could replace Rick as the main character (Tyreese, anyone?) and have the story still be interesting. Well, actually, I could see Abraham taking over the spot light after Rick's death. That's the only real logical choice I personally see fit, in order to continue TWD story after Rick's death; Kirkman choosing to kill him, that is. Your thoughts?

If rick dies, thats fine. Nobody is safe. The true future of this story is CARL plain and simple. He is who I really care about. Then again if carl dies rick would shit a brick and make for interesting stories.... or rick would sit on his ass and give up and get eattin. Anyways CARL is the golden child of the series.

Carl has become a very, VERY interesting character, I agree. But he's still only 10 years old. Carl is frankly too young to be the main character of the series right now, but, it could work if Krikman stepped up his issues to real-time. He could actually do that now too, with them living in the safezone. Carl will without a doubt become super-important in time, but right now he's just too young.

They've killed off Tyreese, and there are rumbles about killing off Glenn, so who'd be left form theoriginal group outside of sniper Andrea?? Killing Rick would be foolish at this juncture, i think Rick os too important to the series.

I wouldnt be hung up on a "main" character so much. TWD is the best because of it's attempt to show the ugly reality of what humans do to each other when bad shit happens. The fact that no one is safe has made this series that much more tense and interesting. The fact that rick has lasted so long is starting to become a little suspicious. That being said- Glenn would be great as a central character- but I think his time is up, too.

You bet I would still read the Walking Dead if Rick bit the big one or the big one bit him. I'm personally tired of Rick. I love Carl and would hate for such ahorribel thing to happen to him... AGAIN! BUt as has been stated before: NO ONE IS SAFE! Except, hopefully, Glenn, Abe, Michonne, and Merle.

Don't get me wrong. I still like Rick and his stump and i don't want him to die. He has just begun to wear on me ever since his fight with Tyreese way back when. I'd like to see some government guy, personally, and get to know their story and in the process learn more of the greater story. I know Kirkman has said the only way we'll find out the scope of the plague is if we meet someone from overseas... or from the government. YOU just know they had to bbe involved in some way shape or form.

i wanted rick to die a long time ago like when they escaped from the prison. i don't think this comic is rick's story. I think it is a story of the survival of humanity and how we relate to one another in crisis. This story can exist with other characters. I think Kirkman is a good enough writer that if he kills of everyone he could wrtie in new characters that we would love just as much.

Yes I would still read it but I would be very pissed off. Rick is by far my favorite in the book. I would also be very upset if Andrea or Carl died.

TWD is my favorite comic, so no matter who Kirkman kills off, I'll continue reading it. I completely agree with redhollywood that TWD isn't Rick's story. It's more about following a group of survivors who are forced to live in a world destroyed by the zombie apocalypse, where you get to see how much people change/what characteristics surface when put in survival scenarios. Also, kartoondscoot is right. Carl is the true future of the book.

they said 'no one is safe' for Prison Break too (or rather 'everyone is expendable') but that wasn't true, was it? The fans made so much noise that the writers HAD to bring back a dead character. Sometimes, what sounds good and dramatic at first actually hurts the story (and the fan following) if it is seen as a betrayal to the fans. It sounds bad, like the writer has no choice but to keep the main character (and I agree, the story wouldn't be the same without Rick - and I haven't even read it yet, I just know from the mechanics of writing good stories). It is actually a good thing that a character means that much to the readers that they would be devastated if they were killed off. It means that people truly identify with and care about Rick. If it pisses off the fans, the writer has done his job. After all, nobody gives a damn about a badly written character (case in point - the last airbender movie? ugghh >.< )

Comic books and Network TV are 2 very different "animals"
Killing off central characters may be cool in comics but on Network TV you have to be very careful what you do
Suffice to say Rick and Carl are not going anywhere soon

You can't kill off Rick. Maybe we will continue to read it, but the day Rick dies most of the average readers will stop buying the comic. Why do you think that DC and Marvel have to revive their characters after they kill them. How man times has Spiderman or Superman died? Yet they still fight crime today. Remember folks, this is a business. Once it's no longer profitable, it's over. . .

Rick and Carl are the engine to this series. Can I see him killing them off, Yes. Will he? Probably in the future, just not for a while at least.

@redhollywood yessssss it was painful to watch that movie. I found myself desperate for a copy of the script so I could rewrite it for them o.o I had never read the comic books, but I could see in the story the POTENTIAL for something great (at the very least it would have made a kickass video game!) but what Shyamalan did was transcribe the story directly from the comics, which is why it sounded awful. In comics you need a lot of dialogue, but in movies...it kills it. The tone and pacing were all wrong, there were long chunks of painful exposition...even the acting was terrible. I can't imagine what he was thinking when he did this...it isn't the sort of stuff I'd expected from him *disappointed* Also (back on topic again) the producers were asked about deaths, specifically Shane's death, and they said they're keeping him around for a good long while, so that part of the story is probably going to be streched out conciderably. I wouldn't make the same bet for poor Amy though o.o But this means Lori has at least a few seasons in her, and I would project they wouldn't arrive at the prison unitl at least season 3 at that rate.
