Easy enough. What's your personal favorite zombie movie?

Mine is easily The Dawn of the Dead (remake). Really good plot, amazing looking gore, and one of the best opening scenes in any fucking movie ever. The only thing that hurt this movie was the guy who played Andre couldn't act for shit, and the chick who played Luda used a horrible accent. Other than that it was pretty perfect.

I agree the Dawn remake was awesome and it did have the best opening scene. But my favorite zombie movie of all time with out a doubt is the original dawn of the dead. I loved the interaction between Peter and Roger and for the time it had awesome gore. The head shoot in the apartment is legendary!

Hell yeah! Notld is classic! the remake that came out in the 90's was also great with tom savini directing. The remake that just came out in 3d not so good.

*taking notes*

'I Am Legend' totally freaked me out and is therefor the ONLY movie on my list at the moment. I just finished watching '28 Days Later' for the first time and...to be honest? I was bored. The only part that got any kind of scare-response out of me was when the father was infected. Really...I can't believe that people insist in comparing this movie to 'The Walking Dead'...from what I've read and what I just saw, they're nothing alike.

I'll have to look into 'Dawn of the Dead'. What about 'Night of the Living Dead'? I saw that one at the video rental place, any thoughts on that one? I'm looking for good not-cheesy horror here to get me ready to read the comics/watch the show ^_^

@Melly If I am Legend freaked you out, you will shit your pants within 10 minutes of watching the Dawn of the Dead remake. It is definitely not cheesey and has the best/most realistic looking gore I've ever seen in a movie. If you want something to get you ready fot TWD, this is it. You need to see it.

After hyping it up, I'm going to have to bust out the dvd tomorrow and rewatch it.

Not trying to shit on your pick, but Dead Alive is literally the worst movie I've even had the misfortune of watching.

@ The Governor Now I REALLY have to rent it :P We'll see if years of watching The X-Files whilst eating dinner have made my desensitization complete, or if it'll give me nightmares for weeks *lol*

@ redhollywood I know I Am Legend isn't zombies, it was quite obvious from the film(especially the animated comics in the special features, did you see those?? O.O ) , but the setting and general story was similar enough to give me the idea of the kind of show TWD will be. It's still takes place post-apocalypse, which was caused by a virus, wiping out 90% of the population, with dangerous creatures lurking everywhere in its wake. Sound familiar? That's why I loved it :D

I saw no mention of "Children shouldn't play with dead things." A really bad low budget zombie flick from the 70's that had a scene that haunts me 30 years later. Zombies are slow walking up a flight of stairs after a couple struggling to find solace in the last place of an overrun house. To give himself more time, the boyfriend / husband throws the woman down the stairs at the zombies. The look of shock on the woman's face really got to me. If I remember correctly their was another zombie waiting in the room he enters anyway so he got what was coming to him. They did that same scenario in 28 weeks later which I thought had an awesome first 15 minutes with a terrible rest of the movie.

Here's my list:

Original Dawn of the Dead

Original NOTLD

Remake NOTLD

Zombieland (even though I hate fast moving zombies)

Children shouldn't play with dead things

@NJManiac I agree 100% with what you said about 28 Days *sigh* I'll have to see about that 'Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things', though I doubt my video store would have it.

And yes, I find the fast-moving Zombies stupid too. They're supposed to be *dead*...dead things shouldn't move fast lol

All right, I gotta get in on this. I'd have to agree with The Governor on "Dead Alive," God I hated the shit out of that movie. So cheesy. NJManiac -- What was wrong with the rest of "28 Weeks Later"? I thoroughly enjoyed that movie -- good acting, very dark and bleak, takes the zombie-type movie places where it hadn't been before. As a matter of fact:

1) "28 Weeks Later" is tops for me.

2) Dawn of the Dead (original)

3) Dawn of the Dead (remake)

4) Dead Set -- I know it's technically a miniseries, but in the end it's just one long movie if you watch all five episodes together. Great looking zombies, smart, scary, very awesome.

5) Shaun of the Dead

My 6-10 in no particular order are: Planet Terror, Day of the Dead, Zombieland, Land of the Dead and Re-Animator, and Night of the Living Dead remake somewhere in there, too (I know the original is a classic, but the gore effects and makeup are worlds better in the new one).

@ZombieMarty I don't think the rest of 28 Weeks Later is horrible, but it obviously fell off, hard, after such an amazing opening scene. Like DotD, the opening in 28 Weeks is one of my favorite scenes from any movie. When you set the bar that high and then don't have another single scene that even comes close to how amazing it was, it comes off as a let down.
