Hey gang.

I thought it odd that there was no thread discussing possible story archs for the upcoming episodes. We've seen the new covers and so fourth and yes there has been discussions but baring in mind how much Adlard and Kirkman like too screw with us from time to time, what can we really expect?

Or more to the point what don't you want?

I really don't want more long sermonising crap!

I've said it before. It's a real weakness of Kirkmans writing with 'TWD'. Which let's be honest has always had the feeling of being story boarded to be picked up by either a film or television company. Now that it has there's no need too keep the comic as schmaltzy as the TV show is in parts. I seriously don't rate Darabont at all. Nor am I saying Kirkman is some form of sell out. He exists to be sold! I just want to be sold it better!

It's also why Ennis's 'Crossed' series (and the writers who have developed the stories along his guidelines) are gaining momentum slowly, and will likely take it over in terms of foreign sales. I don't know what it is, but being a long time collector and reader of many European and American comics I have too say that far too many US comic book writers have traditionally gotten far to sachrine with sentiment (quite possibly because of big television bucks being offered for a potentially successful series). It's no mistake that's why European ideas and writiers have been influencing American comics (and not the other way around) for decades now.

As you can see from Ennis, the English 2000 AD stuff he has done. It's brutal, darkly humorous, but also touching-you emphasize with the characters, yet theres no need for a kind of 'Dawson's 'freaking' Creek' over indulgence. The frames keep popping and a moving. I don't mind dialogue, nor heartfelt dialogue-but frames are wasted for page long treatises which bore me to tears, stilt the action and give me a feeling like I'm watching some moralising mid-eighties sitcom.

If the next few episodes are going to be boring monologues with an unconcious Carl wasting precious frames while other action or character development is happening then im going to keep and en eye on the comments here and skip em till something more intriguing happens. The last episode was great but spolit with Ricks BS at the end. And I thought Morgans rave to Carl was mawkish.

Don't get me wrong 'TWD' is a good comic with oodles of potential! Americans still produce and write good, nigh great comics!  Indeed, Kirkmans fantastic Marvel Zombies was brilliantly done it had all the right elements. But just because there's no 'corny' superheroes doesn't mean we have to indulge in even more 'corny' unrealistic dialogue to make up for the action without them. That I just don't get..........well I get the money on offer!

Anyhow it'll be interesting to get others feedback.

if kirkman exsists to be sold then why isnt any other of his comics been turned into anything yet? you started this to have predicitions and yet you havent said any yet, you seem to just be bashing the show or the book, i cant really tell cause u keep saying episodes, i gave up years ago with predictions, anytime i ever thought something was gonna happen it went a totally different way so i try not to think of anything anymore

Lol yeah sorry I got a little carried away. May have confused you all.

I wonder if anybody hiding in their homes saw Ricks ruthlessness in dispatching Jessie and I guess looking back was it really neccessary for her and her son to die? Wouldn't they have been safer sticking with Maggie? Its questions like these that despite my ill feeling towards elements of the writing that make TWD cool. But please more of this and less of that thanks Mr Kirkman.

Furthermore, I also have to say my fevered reply did deserve to get taken down. But I will say I wish I didn't understand TWD 'comic' and what it's driving for. I've been at it since it started. I don't mind the drama nor the dialogue between the characters, its often when its at its most realistic and in many ways it's best. I mean look at the tension surrounding Rick, Tyrell and Abe at certain times and that between other cast members. To be able to do that, keep it interesting and make the dialogue realistic is a hell of an achievement! But Ricks monologues and speechs could be done far better - if not at all.
