Im an extremely observant person so dont call me crazy when i say this but i think Merl brought the walkers from the roof to the stolen truck and to the camp to kill Rick and Tdog and everyone else..if you notice, in the beginning of the third episode when Merl is trapped on the roof two particular geeks are trying to push their heads through the door..nothing special right? i sure hope your right.

During the camp attack where Ed and Amy die you can see a few of the survivors fighting back. During one part you see Shane with his sexy ass shotgun shotting Geeks... and one of the particular geeks he shoots down is one of the zombies who was trying to get through the rooftop door?

im sure they just didnt wanna pay a new actor for the part but this observation is just getting to me. Please tell me someone noticed this to?

I didn't notice that.  I'm planning on doing a full-series-up-to-this-point marathon sometime soon, so I'll be sure to look out for it then.

I could see them 'cheeping out' on extras and reusing them in different scenes, though, and think it's more likely.  I suppose there could also be something to it.... it just seems like it'd be an aweful lot of unnecessary effort for Merle to go down the fire escape, fire seal his stump, then head back up the infested stair case to corral a zombie to take back to camp - when he could have his pick of Zs outside of the building.  However, I can't rule it out, because it is Merle and they've shown us he can be pretty crazy when he gets something in his head...

I've read Kirkman saying they'll get back to what happened with Merle at some point.  I'm guessing they'll do some flashbacks to show how exactly he escaped and what he's been up to since - and we'll find out if you're on to something then.  It'll be a good-eye find if you're right.

I don't get why everyone has a dork boner over Wes's Uncle.  He's done less on this show then any character, yet people praise him as some evil genius.  The dude could barely spell his first name right when he was sober.

He cut off his own hand to survive, he must be the most amazing evil genius in the world!  Nothing can stop him.  Then he lurred a bunch of walkers into a moving truck that had an open cab that leads into the cargo hold where the Walkers would be?

When have we seen anything with Merle besides his high red neck ass spouting off racial obcenities and getting his dumb ass handcuffed to a pipe.

Let's all lower our Levis Tents and reel in the fanboy insanity about Merle.  Sorry, but it had to be said.  I appreciate everyone's devotion to a character and to the show, but there just hasn't been enough evidence to prove that this hick is anything other than waste of human DNA.

Trust me Zombie hero if theres anyone not fan boying over Merl. Its me...i HATE him....but i was just wondering because i saw the same zombie in the two scenes.i know its prbably just to save money on makeup by keeping them looking the same but my damn observation skills compell me to want to find out more.

I’m thinking that may have just been a continuity error dude. I wouldn’t read too much into it as it would be a complete stretch to think a one handed dude, who was suffering from massive blood loss, could skillfully maneuver a group of walkers into truck that had an open cab.

Sorry about the confusion, I wasn’t accusing you of being a fanboy. I was just making a general observation/rant to all the Merle fanboys out there (and there are a lot). Sorry, wasn’t trying to insult you

I like to put an E at the end of his name, makes him appear more sinister and French!

undeadpizzaman....rodney hall is a friend on facebook, and is an extra who lives in that area...he played a zombie in the first series and they have used him in the 2nd season....they only have so much talent to pool from with zombie extras...i believe that is the possibility

also...if merle did release them, why would the zombies listen to merle when he said..."go over there and attack the farm"....why not just turn and claw at the base of the box truck to get at merle inside.

i like the way you think..but believe it is just a matter of only having so many true actor extras to play the good zombie scenes, and the rest are fill ins from the surrounding areas.

Is this an indirect shot at me for talking about wanting to see Merle again the past few weeks and for offering a rebuttal to your earlier post about the impossibility of his survival from the roof, or is it just an unfortunate coincidence that I posted here before your reply?

Until Shane started to spoil these last couple of episodes, Merle was the only real human villain we'd been given on the show.  It's pretty natural that people who are interested in seeing the element of human horror explored on the show would have glommed onto him.

He's been presented as a hardened bad ass (partly through his delusional rants on the roof,  through Daryl saying as much to the others when they were looking for him, and also through Daryl's hallucinations in the ravine), and he's wildly unlikable to viewers (even you hate him).  Those are two large ingredients in the stew of villainy, and I happen to think this particular stew is fairly satisfying.  He's not on the level of The Governor (not yet anyways), but I think he's a decent antagonist and there are some cool dynamics with Daryl and the group that can be explored through him.

I remember people hypothesizing that Merle lead the walkers to the camp site for the attack after that episode aired, and I thought it was pretty far fetched then - same as now.  But they haven't shown us what happened to him after his escape from the roof, so the door is open for speculation.

NP - Will do.

The roof scene was filmed during the day, and the attack at night - so it's entirely likely both scenes were filmed the same day, to explain why the same extra would be wearing the same clothes with the same make up job.  I'm still curious to see though, so I'll check it out. :)

i never said Merl(e) told the zombies to attack the forest camp but you know how Glenn led the geeks away from the building in season 1 ep.2? Merl couldve easily done that to the camp...in fact i think he could do it ONE HANDED xD...
