Bong Of The Dead

3 meteorites hit the Earth and cause the start of a Zombie Apocalypse.

Two ‘stoners’ Tommy [Jy Harris] and Edwin [Mark Wynn] star in the low budget comedy about finding the ultimate fertilizer for growing pot. Zombie brains. To their horror, they run out of brains to make their fertilizer so they decide to head to ‘The Danger Zone’ where the government is keeping all the rounded up zombies. Along the way they meet up with ‘tough’ Leah [Simone Bailey] and after a bit of initial friction; form an alliance to head to the Danger Zone and collect the brains needed for their potent stash.

A ‘fly in the ointment’ is a Zombie who has decided that he will fight back against those would kill [again] all the undead. He gathers an undead army together and an epic battle ensues against the trio.

Thomas Newman wrote and directed this low budget [$5K] comedy himself as he “got tired of asking other people for their money to pitch myself”. The whole movie was paid for by him to maintain 100% creative control from start to finish.

I enjoyed the movie as in my younger days I was a stoner and can relate to a lot of the things that Edwin and Tommy go thru in search of the next high. I don’t recall ever seeing either of them without either a joint, bong or pipe hanging from their lips the entire movie, even at the end. It was a decent movie; it certainly had it’s moments, especially when the Zombie leader shows up looking strangely like the Nazi zombie commander from ‘Dead Snow’.

I enjoyed the movie and I would recommend it to anyone who seeks 90 minutes of stupid comedy diversion from the normal rat race we call life.
